We are dedicated and committed to promoting social and economic empowerment in Kenya. Through targeted funding and support, we seek to uplift marginalized groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable populations, ensuring equal opportunities for all.

Empowering Counties Through Women Reps

Across Kenya’s 47 counties, the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF)
has become a beacon of transformation delivered at the grassroots, by the people, for the
people. At the heart of this impact is the leadership of Women Representatives, who
champion projects that speak directly to the needs of their communities.

Women Reps: Grassroots Champions of Change
Women Representatives play a pivotal role in identifying and prioritizing projects that align
with local challenges from poverty and unemployment to lack of access to healthcare and
education. Through NGAAF, these leaders work hand in hand with community groups to
ensure that affirmative action funding goes where it’s needed most.
By understanding the unique needs of their constituencies, Women Reps have become the
link between policy and practical, on the ground solutions.

Localized Solutions That Work
NGAAF’s decentralized approach allows every county to implement customized projects
based on community input and data. Whether it’s providing sanitary towels to schoolgirls in
Samburu, setting up women led fish farming projects in Homa Bay,or launching ICT training
centers for youth in Nairobi, Women Reps are shaping programs that have direct, visible
impact.
This month’s featured county projects supported by Women Reps:

  • Kiambu County: Empowerment of women’s self-help groups through bakery, salon,
    and tailoring equipment.
  • Mombasa County: GBV response programs and the opening of safe houses for
    survivors.
  • Kisumu County: Skills training for youth and women in digital literacy and
    enterprise development.
  • Meru County: Agricultural projects led by women farmers, improving food security
    and income generation.

A Voice for the Marginalized
Through NGAAF, Women Reps are not only delivering services they are amplifying the
voices of the marginalized. This includes programs supporting widows, persons with
disabilities, youth living in informal settlements, and survivors of gender based violence.
Their advocacy ensures that national funding touches the most vulnerable members of society
while fostering dignity and self-reliance.

Accountability and Community Participation
Every NGAAF project under a Woman Rep’s office includes community participation and
oversight mechanisms. This builds transparency and ensures that the projects deliver long
term benefits instead of short-term relief.

Conclusion: Women’s Leadership, Community Impact
The collaboration between NGAAF and Women Reps is a powerful example of what
happens when national policy meets grassroots leadership. As these leaders continue to roll
out transformative programs in counties across Kenya, NGAAF is proving that empowering
women in leadership positions leads to stronger, more inclusive development for all.
